SERVICES

We offer a tailored service to meet the needs of players, parents, teachers and schools for the full range of woodwind musical instruments including:

Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Oboe and Bassoon

Repairs

Everything from simple fixes like replacing a worn or damaged tenon cork, improving dents and correcting bent keywork, through to more complex repairs such as repairing cracks, replacing bell rings and replating Nickel Plate, Silver and Gold keywork.

Check-down Service

Check over and adjust pad seating and regulation to good playing order

Replace corks, felts and pads where needed. Often needed as an annual service for fairly new instruments in overall good condition.

Full Service

Fully dismantle and clean body, polish keywork, remove old oil. Oil bore, where required, on wooden instruments.

Replace corks, felts and pads where needed. Improve joint/ key fit where needed.

Lubricate, regulate and adjust keywork and springs to good playing order.

PRICES

Every instrument and every player's needs are different, so rather than publishing prices we like to have the chance to speak, assess your instrument and discuss the options with you. There is no charge for assessing an instrument and no obligation for you to get any work done if you decide you don't want to.

Playability is a woodwind repair, servicing and second hand musical instrument sales business run by professional woodwind technician and amateur bassoon player, John Durham.

Our purpose is to help people enjoy playing and reach their fullest potential by putting their instrument in the best possible playing condition.

Based in our workshop in Rickmansworth, we serve Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and London areas, supporting amateur, professional and student players of all ages, music services and schools.
